Sex Addiction Therapy
Sex Addict Test

Are you a sex addict?

Answer these questions to determine if you have a problem with sexually addictive behavior:

1) Do you keep secrets about your sexual behaviors?

2) Do you feel guilt, shame, remorse, hopelessness or depression as the result of
your sexual behavior?

3) Are you engaging in sexual behaviors that you wish you could stop?

4) Do you feel your sexual life is negatively affecting your spiritual life?

5) Do you catch yourself looking at sexually arousing images out in public, on the internet, in magazines, on television, in
movies or other media?

6) Do your sexual activities seem to be dragging down your personal potential?

7) Has monogamous sex become boring for you?

If you answered yes to 1-3 of the above questions, you are probably not a sex addict but you may need to address your concern by gathering and studying resources.  Some suggestions are that you read sex addiction recovery material and find a person (friend, family member, pastor, etc.) you can talk to about your struggles.  It is difficult to overcome sexually addictive behaviors alone.  Talk to someone.

If you answered yes to 4-7 of the above questions, you may be moving toward sex addiction. It is strongly suggested that you contact Living in Freedom Therapy and book an appointment.  Gerry will do an assessment to determine where you are with regard to possible sex addiction and provide methods you can use to prevent escalation into full-blown addiction.

Here are more questions:

8) Do you regularly masturbate to images or fantasies (whether you are single or have a partner)?

9) Do you regularly view pornography?

10) Have you participated in extramarital affairs, multiple casual sexual encounters, cybersex or phone sex?

11) Do you feel like your sexual behaviors are controlling you and you cannot seem to stop even though you have tried?

12) Do you use sexual behaviors to soothe physical or emotional pain?

13) Are your sexual behaviors causing problems in your life such as issues with
money, marriage, relationships, work or health?

14) Are your sexual activities no longer bringing the same levels of excitement or relief that they used to and, as a result, you are participating in sexual activities you would never have imagined doing previously?

15) Have you engaged in illegal sexual activity such as prostitution, paying for sex, voyeurism, exhibitionism, sex with minors, incest, indecent phone calls, etc.?

If you answered yes to just one of questions 8 through 15, you fall within the criteria for sex addiction.  In order to reduce or stop the behaviors, you need help.  It is impossible to quit on your own.  Often, people who have answered yes to one of
these questions:

        - are in denial and refuse to admit they have a problem.

are too ashamed to reach out and get help.
          -

have never had a safe, confidential place to go and talk to someone.

If this is you, be encouraged to contact Living in Freedom Therapy.  Remember, Gerry will not judge you!  He is there to provide care, support and acceptance no matter what your circumstances. In the first session, Gerry will do an assessment to determine where you fit within sexual addiction.  From there, you will work together to develop and implement a treatment plan based on your individual needs.  The first step to freedom is just a phone call or e-mail away.  Gerry is committed to walking with you to help you escape the darkness and live in freedom!
